GUIDANCE ON JOY

“Your Joy no man takes from You”,₁ for this Joy is the Gift of God.

If it seems gone, You can be sure You are the thief that has robbed it from Yourself; the reason always is the same:   The need to make a Brother wrong.

And would You need to make another wrong but for the guilt that You are feeling.  And guilt then must need to be projected off of You and on to Your not so hapless Brother.  A lose-lose situation, that’s for sure!  For now not just You are guilty but Your Brother too.

You have but forgotten that You are One with all Your Brothers.

What could You do instead?  We’ll come back to this pressing question.

It does appear that none of You have understood the magnitude or all the ramifications of the separation, and what it’s cost You.

It wasn’t just to the Father that You blithely said: “Ciao!” and “See ya’ later” but to all Your Brothers and Your Sisters, and every other Idea in the Universe, including stars and galaxies, for every thing is an intrinsic part of You.  

No wonder You feel incomplete, and are always looking for a relationship to fill the enormous gap left by a missing Universe.

And no wonder why Your Partner fails to satisfy You.  You’ve given them a job impossible to fulfill.  For how could They replace Your missing oceans, mountains, the redwood forest, and the River Amazon.  For to God’s Son belongs everything, gifted to You by Your Father.  Yet You are unaware of what it means to be the Son of God, with a Father of Love Who says: “Son, all that I have is thine.”₂

And no wonder that You feel so small and pitiful, so weak and puny.  Somewhere there’s a part of You that remembers what it’s like to Be a Universe, and Universal.  Who or What could ever satisfy that longing?  Surely not Your Partner, or Your Children, or Your Parents or Your financial success, or a new Dino or Ferrari.  Or a Cadillac?

What about a timeshare in Lake Tahoe, or Cancun, Mexico?  A villa in the South of France, a diamond ring or a big mac, a durian, a wedding or a grandchild, a win at the casino? 

Will any of these things be big enough to fill the vacuum left when You did turn Your backs on God and all the Universe?

Could there be any thing at all on earth to make up for the absence of the rest of the Universe?

Little and alone as You seem to be, the Rest of You is an Eternity.  And Eternity is but the full and overflowing Love of God, the Father.

And in doing that, You shut the door on Love as well.  For Love is not Love unless It’s Universal.

So now You’d probably like to have the good news, and I’m here to give it to You.  Do You remember reading in the Bible My words from 2000 years ago, when I spoke to My Disciples of the world of tribulation, giving them encouragement to: “Be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.”₃ 

I say the same to You: You devoted students of the Course – and those who are listeners of Guidance – are My Disciples of today.  Can You feel My appreciation through the words that I am saying?  Feel My Love for You?

The way to truly understand My Love for You is for You to begin to Love All Your Brothers, without reservation, without regard to their behavior. 

How do You do this?   Well, We start with Every One’s eternal Innocence, and then We stay there, despite the human picture.  This is the Gift Your Brother needs, and so do You need it too.

Will You take My words here following, engrave them on Your minds and hearts, and live them. Then You will transform the world You see right back into Heaven:  “Do to Others as You would be done to.”

If You wish no judgment, then do not judge.  Judgment is a barrier to loving.

Do give the Gift of Innocence and there is no need for You to judge not guilty. Judgment is not Your function here. Your Function here is to Be the Love of God, cherishing All Others.₄

If You wish Love, then give Love freely.  Judgment and Love are antipodal to each other.  Thus You will need to make a choice.  Heretofore, You have chosen judgment.  Would You not make a better choice by choosing once again for Love?

I know just how very hard this can be.  Remember the crucifixion and trust what I am saying here to You.  I had to Love in the face of hatred, or there would never have been a resurrection.

When You think Yourself a body, instead of Love’s very Presence, then this Love of which I speak appears so impossible.  Yet God is not a body, God is Love.  And You are God’s very Presence, thus You too must be His Love.  Love must be Your natural attitude.

Remember how I said: “Of Mine own self, I can do nothing.”₅  How I needed constant connection with the Father to Love and help My Brothers.  This is still so True for Me; 2000 years have passed.  Did You think I spoke A Course In Miracles to Helen on My own?  Indeed, I didn’t.

If You will be willing to connect with Me, with the Father, with the Holy Spirit, and allow Us to Be Be-ing You, thus freeing You from the ego mindset, You will find Your Love undammed, flowing freely like a river.

You do feel Your best when You are loving. 

The freedom that You feel is purest Joy
