You have asked for my assistance in what appears to be a growing conflict over the role various brothers will play in using the material I presented to Helen as A Course In Miracles. As I do
so, there will be great temptation to interpret what I say to support one point of view over the other, thereby further polarising all into opposing factions designed to serve the ego’s goals. It will seem quite natural that one side is to blame, inflicting hardship on the other. Your world demands there is a right and wrong, a focus to isolate you from the source of your fear, a justification to defend your "truth." Yet what purpose can either attack or defence serve, but to be different edges to the sword of separation?

Should you succumb to this temptation you will find no useful meaning for what I say here. I have
repeated in many ways the essential purpose for which the Course is intended is to reverse the world’s thinking, restoring the awareness of harmony to the mind where conflict seems now to prevail. I speak of a world far different from this one you have made from fear, and offer the Means to lead you there on a path only He can assure. All that is required of you is the willingness to set guilt and pain aside and accept His goal of peace in their place. Nothing more is required, yet this must you do to be free from the bonds of the past.

With A Course in Miracles, I did not bring you false hope or a promise too grand to be fulfilled. I offered instead a very real way to let your perceptions be healed. Thoughts and images arising from your belief in separateness and yielded to the Voice for Truth for His interpretation can change the world you see. But yield them you must or you will merely find new ways to let the voice of fear extol its need to attack and defend and so maintain the "safety" it requires of separateness. Truth has surfaced many times in the world’s past. Its message has always been the same: to bring the peace of union to heal the fear of love. But this, as any other thought, can also serve the ego’s goal. In keeping with its need to defend its own belief, it will defend the sanctity of defencelessness from which all union comes, and justify it all in the name purity and holiness. You can see this road well travelled as you chart religion’s course, and by each outcome know that nothing yet has changed. The ego’s plan for salvation remains firmly in control.

I have said there is no situation that is not an opportunity to heal the Son of God of his misperceptions. I have also explained that as you allow the ego to be involved in the healing process, all of the virtues it holds dear will be used to validate and sanctify its "truth" toward the end it seeks for that healing. If you are to perceive a peaceful outcome and so an opening to an opportunity of healing, you must see there is no truth in any intention which does not unify one brother with another. You must also see the cost of denying truth in this way is to affirm the value of guilt and pain instead of the peace God offers. What real value can a truth contain if through its use two brothers can not join? How much joy is there to be found in a gift not equally given?

It must also be understood that this is not a dispute over a book called A Course In Miracles. Nor is it a disagreement between brothers with opposing views. It is instead but yet another example of a mind divided against itself, denying its total innocence by asserting there is right and wrong. On this battlefield only the ego can win. It will make plain the causes to be fought for, the "holy" gains and losses that surely are at risk. The only question yet to be decided here is who appears to win or lose. But in truth, the outcome now is certain for love, peace and truth are all ignored.

For those who choose this as an opportunity to heal the Son of God, there is a different question to be asked: What do I value more, the Holy Spirit’s goal of peace, or the holy ego’s need to maintain its righteous desire to be right? Choose only peace as the outcome you desire, and do so with the absolute certainty your will be done. If you choose for the Holy Spirit, joining your will with His, you also choose for your brother and the peace of your holy union is assured. You need not know how this will occur, indeed, you do not know how to bring this about. But if you will understand the purpose of all I bring to you, it is that you may learn to see beyond the edge of what you now perceive, and know with certainty how this may be. In truth, it is not possible for you to have a will apart from mine, from any other brother, or from the Will of God. But while it yet remains that you believe it to be so, you will be helped to change your mind by witnessing the peace and joy that comes with simple surrender to the experience of union with the Holy Spirit in you, and your brother who is joined with you in Him. Here is the opportunity for healing made apparent, for here will you truly see what all the ego’s battlefields within the world now obscure. There is never more than a single outcome you must be vigilant for. Choose only for the Holy Spirit’s choice, for you and for your brother as one.

This is not a question of the future purpose A Course In Miracles will serve, for that will determined by those who use it. This is a decision to honour love and to remember union. Or, to do nothing at all. For that is the only effect of dreaming you can choose apart from the Will of God. The hope for peace that I have given you is lodged in the memory of your brother’s innocence. I can only take you there if you wish to find it.

The interpretation of A Course In Miracles and directing of its use must rest solely in the hands of the Holy Spirit if this opportunity for truth will follow a different path than the world has known. Your using it as a teaching tool begins with the unequivocal desire for union with God, and so with your brother, and is accomplished by listening to the Holy Spirit’s direction. There are many who are drawn to teach this Course, but for the intent to mirror that which I have given it, it must serve the purpose of union beyond all other considerations. It must serve to make Holy both teacher and student alike, or the real content of its message is lost. Let forgiveness teach that differences need have no effect, nor can be a place where God’s Son can hide.

As again evidenced by this situation, you do not yet know how to forgo the ego’s need to "save" itself by standing apart and thus condemning both itself and its brother. Use this opportunity to pause and acknowledge that this is so. Call to Him Who will not heal this wound by further judgements or making real what seemed to bring it about. Join now with me as I show you the door to peace may only be passed through with your brother. Reach now with me to take the hand of Him Whose only goal is to pass through there with us."
